Review on Campbells Restaurant

Robert and Diane Campbell have been running this personable restaurant down by Portpatrick seafront since 1998 and have built up a loyal following of locals and tourists alike. Inside it's attractively done out in rustic style, with elegant fittings, discreet lighting and comfortable furnishings.

Seafood is the main attraction on the lengthy international menu and visitors can enjoy old-school specialities ranging from Dover sole Colbert to lobster Thermidor, along with mixed shellfish platters, dressed crab salad and grilled scallops wrapped in bacon.

Elsewhere, Galloway steaks are a big favourite, and the repertoire also stretches to savoury crêpes, beef Stroganoff, and roast rack of Wigtownshire lamb with rosemary and redcurrant minted jus. To finish, try chocolate marquise or moist almond tart with Amaretto crème anglaise.
