Review on Scott's Restaurant at The Chiltern Hotel
Originally a wayside inn deep in the Chilterns, not far from Princes Risborough, the Chiltern Hotel, formerly the Rose & Crown Saunderton has been transformed into a stylish bar and hotel with impressive dining facilities. It also boasts a splendid child-friendly garden planted with fruit trees and mature shrubs.
Scott's restaurant is a modern affair that might open with spiced seafood risotto with crispy red chard and shellfish oil, before poached chicken breast with boudin noir, baby leeks and chive beurre blanc or pavé of salmon with shallot, mussel and coriander broth. To finish, perhaps something simple like strawberry jam sponge.
Lunchtimes they offer light bites (spring rolls, battered prawns, ploughman's), omelettes, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and the like. Sunday lunch is dominated by a carvery. Live music evenings, wine tastings and other events are worth looking out for.
