Review on Sai Restaurant
The Sai is a gem of a neighbourhood restaurant located on the corner of Worple Road and Trewince Road in Raynes Park, serving authentic Punjabi cuisine. The light and airy restaurant with large picture windows has a minimalist décor with simply laid wood tables and chairs and on sunny days there is a front terrace for dining al fresco.
In the preparation of Punjabi food the extensive use of onion, ginger and garlic are used by the kitchen to enhance the taste of the dishes, with a broad range of spice levels to cater for all tastes. Tandoori cooking is the speciality of the house and a popular choice is their tandoori chicken, baby chicken marinated in spiced yoghurt and prepared in a traditional clay oven. Vegetables also form the backbone of the menu together with specials including butter chicken, leg of lamb and nihari and biryani dishes. The global wine list has a good choice of quaffable stuff at realistic prices.
The philosophy of life for many Punjabis is to eat, drink and be merry which makes this restaurant an immensely likeable place, with a real dedication to freshly prepared food together with attentive and friendly service.
