Review on Es Coc
A textbook example of where old Mallorca meets new Majorca is at this delightful restaurant in Santanyi, called Es Coc. Chef/owner Marc Vidal has opened his dream gourmet restaurant in what was his grandmother's house. Totally refurbished it oozes contemporary design, like Marc's cooking which is bang up to date but has its roots deep in old Mallorca.
' New Mallorcan market cuisine prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients' is the war cry so expect dishes like foie with mango and spices, low rib of pork with apricots, sobrasada and cinnamon on an artichoke base, tuna on coca of tumbet with black olives and simple home-made desserts such as apple and pear with vanilla ice cream.
Marc has also found one or two 'top drawer' Mallorcan wines for his well chosen list.
