Review on Vito's Italian Restaurant
A long-running local favourite with fans of genuine Italian food of the old school, Vito's has lost none of its sparkle over the years. It looks and feel prosperous, with its black and gold frontage and spacious dining room, complete with vines creeping over the ceiling and Italian memorabilia on the walls.
The lengthy menu trawls its way through all manner of homemade pasta dishes, risottos and hearty offerings ranging from saltimbocca alla romana to pollo diavola, but it's also worth taking note of the specials. Fish is a major attraction, with up to ten different species sometimes on offer: typically you might find pan-fried scallops with olive oil, basil and lemon, baked cod 'fiorentina' with spinach, cheese and almonds, plus halibut, red snapper, sea bass and tuna every which way. Seasonal game such as venison and pheasant also put in an appearance, along with smoked wild boar. To drink, there are plenty of serious bottles from Italy's major wine regions.
