Review on Cinnamon Soho
Cinnamon Soho is the third restaurant from celebrated Indian chef Vivek Singh, located on Kingly Street, just off trendy Carnaby Street and a short stroll from the fashionable shops of Regent Street. It is spread out over two floors with a spacious ground floor bar and smart covered al fresco terrace. Peter Leonard has created a new look for the restaurant using recycled and uncycled materials, there's vibrant hand-painted walls alongside quirky light and timber installations. Industrial bar stools and mismatched chairs with rustic troughs and plants add to the relaxed vibe.
The restaurant has an all day dining approach to food and offers a more casual affordable option than its siblings, Cinnamon Club in Westminster and Cinnamon Kitchen in Devonshire Square. Executive chef Vivek Singh, together with his Head Chef Ramachandran Raju deliver accomplished sharp modern Indian food with occasional British influences. Choose stir-fried shrimp with curry leaf and black pepper or burnt chilli chicken, Indo-Chinese style, before moving on to smoked saddle of Cumbrian lamb, mint onion sauce or spice crusted hake with Colombo curry sauce. Desserts continue the theme, in delightful combination of ingredients with a sticky toffee pudding with ginger and garam masala or maybe chocolate and cumin cake, served with pistachio ice cream.
There is a well considered wine list to complement the food with many available by the glass or carafe, as well as a tempting collection of signature cocktails.
