The Met Bar & Kitchen is located in the heart of Solihull close to Mell Square and Touchwood. It's a cool, contemporary space with a pulsating bar sitting check-by-jowl with the main restaurant – so expect high decibel levels.

Menus generally adhere to the classic brasserie format, with the grill and rôtisserie holding centre stage for dry-aged Scotch steaks, corn-fed duck breast and the like, alongside mains like roast saddle of rabbit with braised Puy lentils or rump of lamb with broad bean purée and gremolata potatoes.

The remainder of the menu comprises starters and 'light plates' (pan-fried chicken livers with Roquefort and maché or roasted vegetable risotto with pesto crème fraîche, for example), a clutch of seafood dishes and blackboard specials like lobster Thermidor with frites, followed by desserts ranging from iced mango and pineapple parfait to apple and sultana pudding with custard. The wine list is short, eclectic and fairly priced.
