Review on Seafood Cafe
The procedure couldn't be simpler: make your way to the refrigerated cabinets displaying the day's fresh local seafood (as well as some Cornish meat and free-range poultry), decide how you want it cooked, then add your choice of sauce, potatoes, salad and vegetables.
Supplies come from Newlyn market and the local boats: depending on the catch, you might see John Dory, monkfish, sea bass, gurnard, sea bream, plaice, brill and more besides. As for sauces, take your pick from hollandaise, wholegrain mustard or something wacky like strawberry and lime salsa.
There's something for everyone on the list of starters, from garlic prawns or skewers of tempura chicken to goats' cheese bruschetta, while desserts could range from sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream to hazelnut and pistachio torte with Mascarpone.
The café is up a cobbled street running parallel to the wharf, and the interior is a contemporary minimalist space with white walls, bare tables and a shiny metallic staircase.
