Review on Bank Westminster
Bank Westminster is tucked away on Buckingham Gate behind the Crowne Plaza Hotel and is an oasis between the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. At its heart is an airy conservatory dining room overlooking a tranquil Victorian courtyard complete with a gushing fountain.
Modern brasserie dishes dominate the lengthy menu, with everything from Gloucester Old Spot sausages and mustard mash to trendy eclectic ideas like roast rump of lamb with Israeli couscous, chermoula dressing and Greek yoghurt. In between, Europe holds sway with seared foie gras and caramelised pear, fillet of sea bass with sun-dried tomato risotto and rocket pesto, and iced tiramisù terrine with chocolate sablé.
Bank Westminster is also renowned for its Zander Bar (named after the previous incarnation of the place), which is the longest of its kind in the UK and is the perfect spot for meeting friends or grooving to live DJ lounge music.
The stylish wine list capitalises on high-class offerings from fashionable producers across the globe: it's big, bold and full of fine drinking, with competitive prices and plenty by the glass. In addition to its London restaurant, Bank also has an outlet on Bridleyplace, Birmingham.
