Review on The Cornish Arms
The Cornish Arms is located in a small hamlet of St Merryn, just outside Padstow on the beautiful North Cornwall coast. The pub has been Rick Stein's local since he was a lad of 18 and when the tenancy became available in 2009, he was pleased to add it to his growing empire of restaurants and shops.
It is the quintessential village pub serving traditional homemade food to the local community and the nearby holiday villages. Food is sourced locally and Stein has built up loyal links with local suppliers who provide the freshest ingredients for the menu. Expect coarse pork and herb terrine, beetroot chutney and toast amongst the starters, followed by scampi in the basket or Tywardreath pork and garlic sausages, mash and onion gravy. For desserts order a sunken chocolate cake with clotted cream or maybe apple pie with clotted cream.
Children are made welcome and have their own menu and four legged friends are allowed in the pub if kept on their leads. The wine list is fairly priced with options by the bottle, carafe and glass and award winning St Austell ales are also available.
