Review on Smollensky's
Legendary and tireless when it comes to crowd pleasing, Smollensky's on the Strand is an energetic, fun-loving destination renowned for its family-friendly attitude. It has all the familiar trademarks - flexible menus, open-plan design with lots of exposed brickwork, plus the bonus of weekend bonanzas complete with Punch & Judy shows, face-painting, clowns and other kids' distractions.
Smollensky's has always been famous for its burgers, steaks and lush transatlantic desserts (Mississippi mud pie, peanut butter cheesecake, chocolate brownie), but the menu now has a more eclectic international slant. These days you can expect to find chicken skewers with lemongrass and ginger, blackened chicken alfredo, Moroccan spiced lamb shank with couscous and five-spice duck breast with braised pak choi and sweet potato chips alongside racks of ribs, Caesar salad and Cajun jambalaya. There's a branch on Canary Wharf, E14.
