Review on STK at ME London
STK is the first UK outpost of the New York based chain located in the luxurious ME London Hotel on the Strand beside Somerset House. Set on the ground floor of the hotel, designed by New York's ICrave Studios it features a large central bar lounge surrounded by an elevated dining room with the restaurant's signature plaster cast horns, theatrical lighting illuminating each table and smoky mirrors adorning the walls.
Executive chef is Vincent Menager who sharpened his culinary skills under legendary chefs such as Alain Ducasse and Albert Toux. Ingredients are carefully sourced for the menu and include both Prime Grade USDA and British steak. On offer there might be seared scallops, curried cauliflower purée and jus gras or foie gras, french toast, Granny Smith apple and sherry gastrique amongst the starters. Main courses take in barbecue short rib with Worcester sticky glaze and butter mash, coconut fried halibut Asian noodle and hot tamarind salad as well as an excellent selection of prime steaks and accompanying sauces. To finish there's a Manhattan mess sundae or toffee apples and marshmallow kebabs.
STK has a wide selection of beers, wines and a well crafted eclectic list of cocktails to complement the menu and the resident DJ creates a lively atmosphere.
