Review on The Amberley Inn
In a beautiful Cotswolds backwater overlooking the five valleys of Stroud and within sight of the historic valley of Woodchester (home of famous fourth-century Orpheus Pavement), the Amberley Inn offers traditional comforts, pleasing accommodation and very creditable food.
Traditional pub dishes like beer-battered fish and chips with minted peas, Gloucester Old Spot sausage and mash, char-grilled sirloin steaks and Sunday roasts share the limelight with more contemporary ideas such as seared duck with cinnamon and cherry sauce, fillet of beef with homemade wild mushroom ravioli, and baked fillet of salmon on crushed potatoes with a casserole of chorizo, Mediterranean vegetables and butter beans. The well-spread wine list has a strong contingent from France.
