Review on Singapore Garden Restaurant
Widely regarded as one of the most authentic Singaporean/Malaysian restaurants in the capital, Singapore Garden Restaurant in Swiss Cottage owes much of its success to the unstinting efforts of the Lim family.
Mother of the house Mrs Lim holds sway in the kitchen, producing classic hawker-style dishes including bowls of thick laksa soup packed with prawns, a good selection of genuine noodle specialities (fried kway teow, for example), satays and beef rendang – not forgetting that quintessential Singaporean classic, chilli crab. Also expect a range of more esoteric ideas such as curried monkfish with okra and braised pig's trotter, as well as curious desserts like Indonesian chendol (a concoction of red beans, pandan jelly and palm sugar in coconut milk).
