Review on Peter Tavy Inn
At the end of a country lane, by the village church, this down-to-earth hostelry has been doing great service to the community for more than five centuries. These days, visitors make the trek off the A386 (north of Tavistock) to sample its rustic delights, locally brewed ales and robust food.
Inside, you will still find a full quota of archetypal beams, flagstone floors and blazing fires, plus a blackboard menu that mixes pub grub standards with more cosmopolitan ideas. For openers, you might try Stilton and pear pâté or smoked chicken and orange salad, before game casserole, Mexican fajitas or duck breast with sweet potato and five spice mash. Ice creams, plentiful Devon cheeses and desserts such as summer fruit pudding close the show.
