Review on Retro Bistrot
Retro Bistrot in Teddington has been named Best London Restaurant 2011 in the prestigious Good Food Guide Awards. This delightful restaurant which opened in August 2008 has a loyal following of customers, charmed by the welcome and ambience created by enthusiastic owner Vincent Gerbeau and his Manager Fabrice Petat, who take great pride in their very high standards of personal service. Decked out in classic bistrot style with green curtains draped at the entrance, exposed brick walls featuring big mirrors, bold patterned wallpaper and wooden chairs and tables on stripped wood flooring.
The kitchen under the guidance of Head Chef Francois Fayd'Herbe de Maudave turns out well thought out classic French dishes using the finest of ingredients at very affordable prices. To start you could choose the chicken liver parfait or grilled goats cheese, beetroot and pesto salad followed by a main course of coq au vin or sole meunière. Traditional desserts such as crème brûlée or apricot soufflé close the show.
There is a carefully chosen wine list of some 80 references, mostly from French regions, but there is a significant presence from old and new producers.
