Review on Rhosyn Restaurant at Penally Abbey Country House Hotel
Rated as one of Pembrokeshire's loveliest Gothic-style country houses, Penally Abbey stands next to the Norman church in a pretty, floral village not far from Tenby. There are magnificent sea views over Caldey Island and Carmarthen Bay from grounds that surround the ivy-clad mansion.
Guests dine in the newly refurbished Rhosyn Restaurant, meaning rose in Welsh its a relaxed affair with friendly and accomplished service. It has a chic décor with high coved ceilings, hand-carved fireplaces and crystal chandeliers, affording guests lovely views of the garden through the large ogee-arched windows. The kitchen makes good use of Welsh produce for a menu in the European mould of smoked salmon and trout gâteau, fillet of lamb with port and redcurrants and dark chocolate torte.
