Review on Rumour Wine Bar and Restaurant
An easy-going and buzzy perennial at the very heart of 'funky' Totnes. The original building dates back to the fourteenth century and the site has had a colourful history: it was once – reputedly – a toffee factory and later an old-fashioned coffee bar.
Menus change daily and there are plenty of fresh ideas based on ever-present supplies of local produce. Expect dishes like fillet of sea bass with roast sweet potato, green beans and basil cream, roast duck breast with butter bean purée, balsamic red onions and cranberry chutney and – for vegetarians – Jerusalem artichoke and Gruyère crumble with leek coulis. There's also a separate pizza menu.
The place boasts a very creditable wine list, plus real ales, farm cider and some interesting Belgian beers.
