Review on Le Salon Privé
Set in a former Victorian butcher's shop, Le Salon Privé in Twickenham opened in January 2015 in the premises previously occupied by Brula Bistro. The stunning stained glass windows have been retained but the interiors have been refurbished, overseen by new owner Stefano Bergamin, patron of Bacco in Richmond. The dining room is now light and airy with tables set with crisp white linen and banquette seating running down both sides of the room, soft French music playing in the background adds to the amiable ambience.
Head Chef Gianluca di Monaco, who is also patron of the restaurant cut his teeth in restaurants such as Shoreditch House, Koffman's and Lanesborough Hotel. The classic French menu has been carefully conceived by critically acclaimed restaurateur Malcolm John and kicks of in true style with dishes such as soupe à l'oignon gratinée and escargots de bourgogne, garlic and parsley butter. Main courses carry on the theme with daube de bœuf bourguignon, cavolo nero and horseradish pomme purée or for fish fans there's fillet of sea trout, squid tempura ratte potatoes and sorrel. Finely crafted desserts close the show with strawberry panna cotta with amaretti crumble or Valrhona black forest.
Le Salon Privé is also featured in: Michelin Guide, Good Food Guide, Hardens, AA Guide
