Review on Harry's Bar
Harry's Bar is the iconic restaurant part of the Cipriani empire located in Venice, famous as being the home to the first Bellini served by its founder Giuseppe Cipriani in 1948. According to history Giuseppe a bartender loaned a rich young Bostonian 10,000 lire when he was broke and two years later he repaid him with 50,000 lire and to show his appreciation, gave him another 40,000 to open Harry's Bar in 1931.
The famous restaurant is located on the first floor of a small stone building with the bar on the ground level. Typical starters that could appear on the menu are marinated salmon and asparagus or baby artichoke salad and avocados with shaved parmesan, pasta dishes of veal cannelloni alla piemontese or maybe risotto alla privavera. Main courses take in filet of sole alla Carlina or calves liver alla veneziana with polenta. When it comes to desserts there's triple chocolate layer cake or Crępes alla crema.
