Review on Bodéga!
Dubbed Waterford's 'party place', this colourfully bedecked venue is brightly decorated in shades of orange and purple, with monthly exhibitions of local art adding extra visual excitement to proceedings.
'Early bird' deals are a great draw and the restaurant stays open late on Fridays and Saturdays. The kitchen plunders France and the Mediterranean for ideas and regular menus are bolstered by a raft of blackboard specials. Wexford mussels are a bestseller, although seafood fans might also be tempted by salmon and scallop terrine, baked hake with chorizo and red pepper sauce or the famous Bodéga fish pie.
Other possibilities might include Basque-style warm goats' cheese, Toulouse sausage with choucroute and baby potatoes or breast and confit of Barbary duck with sweet red cabbage, honey and ginger sauce. Finish off with something classic like crème brûlée, craquelin or tiramisù. The well-spread wine list offers ample choice from around the world, and the restaurant provides an off-sales service.
