Review on Butler Arms Hotel, Charlie's Restaurant
Charlie Chaplin was a regular visitor to the much-loved Butler Arms, which stands proud on the seafront at Waterville overlooking the Atlantic. The hotel has been owned and run by the Huggard family since 1915 and has earned a place as one of the most respected destinations on the scenic Ring of Kerry trail.
The traditional restaurant is the the old part of the hotel overlooking the ocean, and it makes a pleasant setting for no-frills international cooking. Local seafood is a strong suit, and the flexible menus also feature Kerry mountain lamb and produce from local farms.
Also take time out to enjoy the craic in the beamed Fisherman's Bar, which serves food every lunch and evening. Otherwise, take tea in the relaxed surroundings of the Chaplin Lounge, where the walls are lined with photos of the celeb 'tramp' and his family.
