Review on Arena Restaurant

Arena is reckoned to be the longest established family-run restaurant in the Wembley area, and the neighbourhood's only authentic Greek venue, Arena was set up by Jimmy and Helen Lagos in 1984. Following a serious refit, it now sports an open-plan Mediterranean look which adds to its charming good-humoured atmosphere.

Mezze figure strongly on the menu, along with other Greek favourites such as stuffed vine leaves, moussaka, stifado vodino, souvlaki and pork afelia. There are plenty of kebabs, too, plus a few fish dishes and sticky sweets. Order one of the gutsy Greek wines from the short list.

Saturday night brings live entertainment from locally renowned singer/guitarist George Michalisles, plus the obligatory plate-smashing. Arena is within walking distance of the new Wembley Stadium, and opens early when concerts and sporting events are taking place.
