Review on Fox and Hounds
This cottagey village pub is out towards Wetherby in the village of Walton, just next door to the 'other' British Library and document supply centre in Boston Spa. It's now run by the same team that put the Bay Horse at nearby Kirk Deighton on the gastronomic map, and food is top of the agenda.
The menu is a vivid mix of conventional pub grub and modern brasserie-style dishes. If you fancy something stoutly traditional, try steak and ale pie, bangers and mash, fruit crumble - or just a hefty doorstop sandwich made with granary bread. Alternatively, try something up-to-the-minute like twice-baked Swaledale goats' cheese soufflé, sea bass with char-grilled peppers and pesto, or breast of farm-reared chicken with wild mushrooms. Sunday lunch is a regular sell out, and everything on the promising wine list is available by the glass.
