Review on The Cove
As the Daily Telegraph noted, this exciting venue 'introduced stainless steel and pan-seared sea bass to a town reared on plastic chairs and bacon butties'. The Cove seems to tick all the right boxes, whether you are a resident foodie or gastronomically minded holidaymaker.
Seafood from Newlyn and Brixham is the mainstay of the menu, so you can expect piscine treats ranging from seared scallops with samphire and oyster butter to roast monkfish wrapped in prosciutto with capers, girolles and parsley. Meat eaters, meanwhile, have alternatives such as warm pigeon tart with walnut and thyme dressing or roast venison with blackberry jus and buttered kale. For afters, perhaps white chocolate marquise or lemon tart with Rodda's Cornish clotted cream.
Tapas is served in the terrace most days (weather permitting) and Sunday lunch revolves around a traditional roast - plus seafood additions. Morning coffee is available from 10.30am when the restaurant is open.
