Review on Meejana
Meejana started life as a bespoke 'Food & Wine Boutique' selling specialist comestibles from around the world to the people of Weybridge and beyond. These days, it incorporates a casual café and delicatessen, plus an intimate 24-cover restaurant dedicated to authentic Lebanese cooking.
A long list of hot and cold meze is the main attraction, and the kitchen produces fine versions of classics like hummus, moutabbal, tabbouleh and kebbeh, alongside more unusual items such as bottarga (cured mullet roe), kafte nayeh (lamb tartare with parsley and onion) and sabeedish (squid with mixed peppers, spring onions and parsley). High-protein kebabs dominate the choice of main courses, although the list also includes grilled sea bass with tagine sauce and rice, whole quail with coriander, and plenty of vegetarian options (baked aubergine with tomatoes and chick peas, for example).
The wine list is a knowledgeable selection of bottles from some of the world's most illustrious producers, large and small; don't miss the Lebanese wines, especially Château Kefraya and Château Ka. At any time of day, you can also drop into the café for luxury teas in silken pouches, Lebanese wraps, sticky pastries and much more besides.
