Review on The Dining Room at Oakley Court
A grandiose example of Victorian Gothic splendour, Oakley Court is resplendent in 35 acres of lovely gardens and lawns sweeping down to the banks of the Thames and within easy reach of, Windsor, Ascot and Heathrow. It naturally attracts its share of tourists, international travellers, wedding couples, conferences and moneyed punters.
Relaxed dining takes place in The Dining Room offering a cosy interior with its log fire, it serves a selection of home style favourites making the most of the local larder. Dishes appear on the menu as small or large plates kicking off with cured wild sea trout, heritage beetroot, sorrel and horseradish or maybe summer celery soup, crackle barn hen's egg and walnut pesto. Follow on with lemon sole roasted on the bone with parsley sauce, chard braised with anchovies and garlic or from the Japanese Kamado charcoal grill carnivores can enjoy a selection of succulent steaks served with triple cooked chips, kitchen garden salad, bone marrow and peppercorn butter. To conclude enjoy desserts such as pistachio, cardamom and olive oil cake served with whipped mascarpone or Valrhona chocolate brownie with salted butter caramel.
