Review on Mango Lounge
Elegance, style and sophistication are watchwords at the Mango Lounge, which brings a dose of contemporary Asian cooking to Windsor. The decor is a work away from the clichés of flock wallpaper and the menu scours in Indian Sub-continent for ideas - taking in everything from Mumbai's street stalls to the beaches of Goa.
Diehard curry house dishes such as tandoori chicken, rogan josh and Madras are quickly eclipsed by the likes of seared scallops with chilli, coriander and pea mash, star anise-smoked lamb neck cutlets and chops with spiced onions and king prawn moilee in coconut and curry leaf sauce. The kitchen also casts its net further afield for Thai fishcakes, crispy duck spring rolls, and spinach and goats' cheese kofta. To finish, you might consider some Euro-fusion in the shape of cardamom pannacotta with pistachio ice cream or mango and passion fruit crème brûlée. The global wine list is an impressive match for the food.
