Review on Marco's New York Italian
Formerly Frankie's Bar and Grill, a joint venture between Marco Pierre White and champion jockey Frankie Dettori, it has now been rebranded as Marco's New York Italian. The restaurant sits alongside the Holiday Inn Express set in the heart of the seaside town of Hoylake on The Kings Gap, a short walk from the sandy beachfront with views of the Dee Estuary and the Welsh Mountains beyond.
The family friendly restaurant has a cosy bistro style, featuring floor to ceiling windows, chequerboard flooring and linen clad tables with contrasting red gingham napkins. Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White has created a menu inspired by his Italian heritage, offering traditional Italian classics with a modern twist and New York influences.
Dishes are carefully prepared using fresh locally sourced ingredients for a menu that will appeal to all the family. Starters such as calamari with garlic and lemon mayo or bruschetta with tomato, basil and garlic, proceed main courses in the shape of spaghetti bolognese, burgers, hot dogs and ribs, handmade pizzas, fine cut steaks and fish dishes like Yellow fin tuna steak with olives, capers, fresh herbs, tomato, olive oil and new potatoes. To finish enjoy a dessert of Marco's tiramisu or maybe choose the semifreddo with hazelnut nougat and fresh raspberry sauce.
The restaurant serves food all day together with a reasonably priced, well balanced wine list, and a tasty selection of classic cocktails.
