Review on Seckford Hall Hotel, 1530 Restaurant
Converted from a beautiful private residence into a breathtaking hotel, Seckford Hall still retains its impressive Tudor façade and sumptuous interiors. The historic building stands peacefully in 34 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland on the outskirts of Woodbridge (look for the signs off the A12). Guests feel as though they were English gentry, secluded from the rest of the hustle and bustle of the world and treated to stately grandeur.
Dining in the 1530 restaurant is not only a pleasure but pure indulgence - the restaurant magically combines the luxury and splendour of a Tudor mansion with inspirational modern dishes. The oak-panelled dining room has been re-designed offering a contemporary interior with stunning statement lighting, fresh flowers are displayed on dark wood tables and comfy leather chairs set the scene. Typical offerings might include pan-fried Cornish scallops with a trio of dips, rump of salt marsh lamb with Puy lentils, root vegetables and rosemary jus, and iced banana and praline pyramid with butterscotch sauce and caramelised banana.
There's a cosy fire to warm up to during the colder winter months with lovely views of the gardens in The Tattinger Champagne and Cocktail bar, perfect for pre and post dinner drinks including well crafted cocktails, champagne and an olive menu.
