Review on Bindles Brasserie & Bar
Bindles Brasserie & Bar, formerly the Glasshouse occupies a a custom-built, three-floor venue with great views of the city and the cathedral. This new venue has a relaxed vibe and you are welcome to pop in for just a drink, a delicious cocktail or a meal.
The kitchen offers an innovative brasserie menu in modern surroundings and is proving to be a very popular addition to the city centre. There is a selection of tapas style dishes, ideal for sharing or a snack such as charred ciabatta with roasted pepper hummus or a plate of cured meats, rock and parmesan. Typical starters that feature on the menu are pan-fried squid with chorizo, yellow pepper, courgette and baby vine tomatoes or slow roasted pork and black pudding, croquettes serves with homemade tomato ketchup and dressed leaves. Follow on with a main course of pan fried lamb rump with minted new potatoes, purple sprouting and fresh salsa verde or fresh steamed fillet of cod, potato purée and minted crushed peas with caper vinaigrette.
There is an attractively priced wine list to complement the food, with several options available by the glass. A terrace towards the back of the restaurant has been opened to the skies, with the removal of the canopies during the summer months, designed to bring the outside in. Private parties can be accommodated in The Bindles Glassbox, perfect for up to 16 guests. The Brindle's staff ooze friendliness, warmth and informality as well as providing attentive service.
