Review on Washington Central Hotel, The Central Bistro & Bar
The distinctive red-brick façade of the Washington Hotel was originally constructed in 1982, but further improvements and extensions have been added in recent years. It is now a fully fledged luxury venue with banqueting facilities and a leisure club right in the centre of Workington.
The Central Bistro & Bar is a light and airy space decked out in a pleasing contemporary décor with a relaxed and welcoming vibe. The kitchen sources local fresh produce kicking off with starters in the shape of ham hock, thyme and foie gras terrine served with toasted brioche and red onion jam or pan seared scallops and king prawns with baby black pudding, crisp pancetta, mango and chive cream. Main courses offer chargrilled rib eye steak, grilled tomatoes, field mushrooms, onion rings, chips and fresh market vegetables or there's a seafood platter with an array of cold seafoods, full salad and brown bread. When it comes to desserts enjoy a zesty lemon curd cheesecake with mini meringues and raspberry sauce or a Lakeland sticky toffee pudding with hot butterscotch sauce.
Daytime snacks are served in the coffee shop, light meals are available in the bar, and the Clock Tower restaurant is available for private functions.
