Review on Lanes Hotel
In a pretty village a couple of miles outside Yeovil, Lanes Hotel occupies what was once an Edwardian rectory, although recent renovations have given the building a brand new contemporary look.
The glassed-in, brasserie-style restaurant is in a stylish modern extension and it's reached via the groovy, chill-out Piano Bar. It's a deliberate 'architectural foil' to the original rectory with its floor-to-ceiling windows, wood floors and striking artwork. The food aims to please all-comers, with typical offerings ranging from 'moules with frites' to roast loin of venison with pumpkin purée, blueberry dauphinoise and cabbage.
