Review on D.C.H at the Dean Court
I love the table that overlooks the Minster writes one Mobile Food Guide user, D.C.H at the Dean Court boasts one of the finest locations in the city of York with not only fabulous views of the Minster but also first-rate cuisine. The restaurant is stylish, contemporary and elegant with superb design features and is the only Restaurant within the city walls with 2 AA Rosettes.
Chef John Malia looks to local producers for ingredients and the cooking is modern yet simple in style with the well-balanced menu including popular dishes like duck liver and pistachio parfait, confit radish, blood orange and spring onion dressing followed by a main course of pan seared Wild Sea Bass and dressed langoustines, sea vegetables, pickled fennel and shellfish bisque. Tempting desserts close the shop with a dark fondant, orange and grilled vanilla sorbet or forced Yorkshire rhubarb "Sundae" crispy custard, toasted muesli and salted caramel ice cream.
Service is willing and relaxed, and there's an excellent choice of wines by the glass from the extensive wine list. Sunday lunch is a great treat with roast sirloin of Yorkshire beef and all the trimmings. While on Tuesday nights the mood changes as the Minster bells practice provides the background music.
