Review on The Foresters At Yoxall

New owners have recently arrived to breathed new life into this Staffordshire village watering hole, The Foresters At Yoxall, and it now sets out it stall as a contemporary pub/restaurant with a flexible attitude to things. The interior is spread over three rooms, filled with a mix of sofas, plain wood table and chairs, and there's seating outside for those who want to eat al fresco.

At lunchtime, the kitchen sends out a range of sandwiches, paninis and rustic rolls, along with honest gastro pub dishes (smoked haddock with poached egg, wild mushroom and black olive fettuccine, seared lamb's liver with bacon and mash, for example).

Dinner is a more elaborate affair that might commence with slow-roast belly pork and pineapple relish or smoked tuna loin with tartare crème fraîche, before saffron-marinated sea bass and scallops with crab risotto and salsa verde or Barbary duck breast with creamed Savoy cabbage, Parma ham and roast clementine. To finish, check out the handcrafted Staffordshire cheeses; otherwise, go for something sweet such as white chocolate mousse with poached strawberries or blueberry and Cassis tart with pistachio ice cream.

I was taken to this establishment by friends and to say that I was surprised is an understatement!! The atmosphere was very comfortable and easy, the food was Gastronomic and the prices very reasonable!! I intend taking my friends and family there again in the near future.

Tasteless overcooked veg Tiny bargain basement fishcakes!

Have heard this place is good. Immediately liked he place on arrival about 7ish. Food another story. fishcakes would have been refused at home. I ate to be polite as our friends enjoyed their chick pea curries. It looked ok but better at home.
My partner had seafood medley which sounded good was in fact heavily crumbed tiny tasteless frozen fish pieces we had good company I hadn't realised his too was poor till we talked afterwards.

The mature lady serving at bar...not great

My partner and I called into this pub today and we're very disappointed from what we had heard. My partner was dressed in his work Scruffs as he's a plumber and we felt the woman who came to bar DIDN'T want us in there as she looked us up and down .. Hardly a nice welcome. We only wanted a snack and I was very shocked how much things were .... £6.50 for a jacket potato... How can you justify this?! Daylight robbery. We had small baguettes with tuna and Mayo and beef and there was hardly any salad garnish and it was limp and the chips were extra at £1.10 which at other pubs would be free. There was no ambience and it was like a care home as we are 50 and were the youngest ones there!! Vastly overpriced and will not be returning ....
