Review on Zunfthaus zur Waag
The Zunfthaus am Münsterhof is beautiful Guildhall dating back to 1315, located at the Fraumünster square in the heart of Zurich. In addition to the à la carte restaurant on the first floor, there is a magnificent wood panelled banqueting hall with a superb 1726 Elgger wood stove which can be booked for private functions.
The kitchen deals in traditional Zurich dishes alongside a creative cuisine, using fresh seasonal produce. Open your account with roasted duck liver with apricot and almond or octopus salad with rocket. Main course include Zürcher Kalbsgeschnetzeltes, sliced veal Zurich style, served with or without calf's kidneys and Rösti crispy potatoes or fried turbot with artichoke sauce, creamy polenta and truffle caviar. When it comes to desserts, you might see vanilla crème brulée with apricot chutney and mint sorbet or orange-semolina mousse with cherry compote and vanilla ice cream on the menu. The food is supported by a carefully chosen European wine list.
