Sitting pretty right on the quay, with good views of the East Looe harbourside action, this welcoming sea-blue fronted restaurant, Trawlers on the Quay, is proudly Cornish through-and-through. Expect a cheery, holiday crowd during the season and a loyal contingent of locals at other times.
The fish market is a stone's throw away, and the kitchen takes full advantage of the wares provided by the local day boats. Depending on the haul, you might be offered Creole-spiced crab boulettes with sweet-and-sour dressing, roast monkfish with butternut squash and balsamic reduction or a trio of fish with lime and red onion butter.
Alternatively, place an order for grilled Cornish goats' cheese with grape and walnut salad followed by casseroled lamb in St Austell Tribute Ale with cauliflower purée. To finish, check out the fine Cornish cheeses, the award-winning local ice creams or one of Mark Napper's desserts such as a trio of 'pots' (lemon posset, crème brûlée, chocolate and orange custard). The concise wine list ranges from Cornwall to California.
