Tucked away just off the high street in the charming village of Chagford on the edge of Dartmoor, 22 Mill Street is now run by Head Chef David Jenkins and wife, Chantel. It's a cosy 26 seat restaurant that sets out to provide a mixture of culinary excellence and professional yet relaxed service all combining for the ultimate in dining experiences.
David's Modern European food is based around keenly sourced regional ingredients and there's no lack of generosity when it comes to his six-course tasting menus or opt for the fixed price menu which could take in, say, seared Falmouth bay scallops, caraway caramel, cauliflower and baby herbs, loin of rabbit, boudin noir and aged parmesan risotto with white truffle oil or perhaps roasted fillet of Cornish hake, parsley, shallot and exe mussel vinaigrette. Surprises continue with desserts such as mango parfait, crème fraiche sorbet and poached pineapple or Autumn berry jelly and semi-freddo, vanilla doughnuts and citrus candy.
Above the restaurant there are two beautifully appointed guest rooms with en-suite facilities, comfortable beds and flat screen televisions .
