Set amongst the honey-coloured stone buildings of this delightful Cotswolds market town, Allium is an award-winning young restaurant that is now a strong competitor for Gloucestershire's coveted top restaurant slot.
With its chic decor and friendly service it exudes a relaxing ambience. They pride themselves on their daily changing lunch menu and seasonal evening menu, based on fresh, local produce. The cooking itself is executed with quiet confidence, though like many upmarket provincial restaurants these days, the temptation to emulate a London pricing structure is irresistible. However, it is still very good value for money.
The autumn seasonal menu includes delights such as Langoustine & veal kidney ragout with sweetcorn palette & basil; Porchetta of Scrubditch Farm suckling pig with apples, onions and cider; and Halibut poached in almond milk with butternut squash & gem lettuce. The wide ranging wine list will please all palates and includes a few surprising wines too.
