Didier Suvé and Stephanie Danvel bring a touch of authentic French regional cuisine to the centre of Swansea in their welcoming neighbourhood restaurant. The setting is a Victorian house not far from the city centre, and the interior has a relaxed feel with its stripped-pine floors, dark green tablecloths and cream walls. Stephanie is a bubbly presence out front, while Didier mans the stoves.
Close your eyes and dream of France as you tuck into the likes of chicken liver salad with beetroot, feuilleté of snails with garlic, casseroled rabbit with prunes or beef bourguignon. To conclude, try tarte Tatin with crème fraîche, chestnut tart with custard cream or check out the assortment of well-kept French cheeses. The wine list is short and patriotically Gallic, with a mere handful of alternatives from elsewhere.
