Mobile Food Guide Review of Off The Square Restaurant
Cheltenham's ever-growing gastronomic scene shows no sign of waning, and this amicable modern restaurant is a welcome addition to proceedings. Off the Square is housed in the corner of The Courtyard in the town's swish Montpellier district and, in summer, it has the added bonus of continental-style al fresco dining on a large balcony area. Menus change every two months and dishes are gleaned from around the globe. You might kick off with duck confit and apple terrine accompanied by spiced plum chutney or seared king scallops with guacamole and a salsa of mango, red pepper and coriander before, say, baked lemon sole with olive and herb stuffing plus turmeric and lentil rice or Cotswold sirloin steak with root vegetable and horseradish mash, confit of shallots, thyme and red wine jus. A few simpler ideas such as sweetcorn, spinach and pepper frittata appear on the lunch menu, while desserts are mostly old favourites such as sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. The reasonably priced wine list does its job admirably. Additional Restaurant Information for Off The Square Restaurant - Cheltenham
