One of four London branches of the international Patara chain, this Mayfair restaurant is a striking, upmarket venue with chiselled sandstone walls, ethnic sculptures, carved palm wood columns and luxurious red seating. Clever ambient illumination comes from candles and spotlights, and service helps to create a relaxed vibe.
Like its siblings, it offers Thai food that is authentic, ambitious and innovative when it matters. Staples such as fishcakes, tom yung goong soup, red duck curry and pad Thai noodles are spot-on and the kitchen also delivers specialities like DIY Thai tacos, hot-and-sour shredded chicken and mango salad, black cod with yellow bean sauce, and slow-braised beef in aromatic coconut reduction.
There are three other outlets in the capital at 15 Greek Street W1, 9 Beauchamp Place, SW3 and 181 Fulham Road, SW3.
