The Surrey suburban town of New Malden wouldn't strike most people as a destination for Korean food, but it has a thriving Korean community and a growing number of authentic eating places.
Asadal which has been flying the flag for more than 15 years have a new owner and is now called Sorabol. The general consensus is that the food is better than ever and its a very popular destination. Most of the Korean classics are here, including pae jon (pancakes filled with seafood and spring onions), beef kalbi (marinated, barbecued beef ribs) and chicken bulgogi (the famed national dish cooked on a sizzling plate at the table), not forgetting the signature accompaniment – fiery, chilli-spiked kim chee.
