Swansea's take on a Spanish bodega comes complete with multi-coloured glazed tiles, rough-plastered walls and a hotch-potch of wine crates, barrels and rustic plates. This is Spain via south Wales in all its hot-blooded conviviality, where sawdust on the floors and Rioja labels stuck on pillars and beams reinforce the no-frills mood of the place.
The procedure is simple: find a table (either on the ground floor or upstairs), note its number, then make your way to the display counters. Check out the massive assortment of meat and fish (anything from rump steak and suckling pig to halibut, sea bass, hake and red snapper) and decide how you want it cooked. Char-grilling is the favourite way of doing things, and most dishes come with light sauces, chips, jacket potatoes and salads.
If you fancy a starter, the choice extends to gravlax, steamed asparagus and stuffed mushrooms, while puds promise things like crème caramel. Lunch deals are some of the best in town and the wine list has a broad Spanish accent.
