Zest Café - Clane

A godsend for shoppers and foodies alike, Mark Condon's casual venue does a splendid job as a relaxed neighbourhood eating place. At lunch, Zest is a cheery all-comers' pit stop, serving sandwiches, wraps, quiches, salads and the like - plus an assortment of cakes and pastries for sweet-toothed visitors. Come the evening, there's a change of identity and the place becomes a full-grown, classy bistro specialising in colourful eclectic dishes.

Menus change regularly, but the listings have included chicken liver terrine with apple and onion compote, Moroccan spiced lamb with chick peas, char-grilled chicken breast in lime, ginger and coriander, plus various pizzas and pasta dishes. The wine list is short, but packed with quality stuff.
