Mobile Food Guide Review of The Print Room

A new venture from the team behind the highly successful WestBeach on Bournemouth seafront, this glamorous mix of brasserie, café and charcuterie bar occupies the ground floor of the Seal & Hardy building (once home to the Bournemouth Daily Echo). The original print room has been transformed into a re-invented 1930s hangout, complete with a mirror-backed bar, Swarovski chandeliers and a black-and-white chequered floor.

Crustacea, charcuterie and grills are supplemented by salads, omelettes, pasta and pots of caviar (for those with £70 to dispose of!). You might begin with lobster bisque or braised ham hock, foie gras and truffle terrine with pease pudding before sampling roast cod with pea purée and curry oil or best end of Dorset lamb with gratin dauphinoise, green beans and port sauce. To finish, try lemon tart with clotted cream, gooseberry fool and iced passion fruit soufflé with banana compote.

The adjoining Grand Café is open from 10.00am - 5.00pm for breakfast, express lunches, snacks and high tea. Don't leave without browsing the shelves and displays of provisions in the deli bar and pâtisserie.
