'A corner of France in the heart of Leamington' is how the owners describe this genuine Provençal bistro. The decor is just as it should be, and the menu is a simple reflection of all things Gallic - from the olives and saucisson that are offered as pre-prandial nibbles to the award-winning steak frites and superb cheeseboard.
The kitchen keeps it simple, starting proceedings with the likes of toasted goats' cheese salad, terrine de maison with cornichons or twice-baked Roquefort soufflé. After that, expect Brittany fish pie, coq au vin with garlic pomme purée or slow-roast pork with apples and cider jus. Desserts are traditional stalwarts such as chocolate mousse and crème brûlée.
Tuesday night is 'auberge night', when a fixed-price, no-choice menu is the order of the day; there are also regular regional themed evenings throughout the year.
