Quince - Mayfair

The Quince restaurant is set in the luxurious May Fair Hotel in the heart of one of the most prestigious areas of London, a short distance from Green Park and the chic shops of Bond Street and Knightsbridge. This was the debut restaurant of TV chef and acclaimed author Silvena Rowe and celebrates her interpretation of historic Eastern Mediterranean cuisines. Having run the restaurant as chef-patron for two years, Silvena has now left to concentrate on other projects, but the restaurant still operates in very much the same vein.

The dining room looks overtly glamorous and sultry with interiors designed by Martin Brudnizki, whose other London projects have included Dean Street Townhouse, the Club at the Ivy and St Pancras Grand. With a sumptuous décor that is unique blend of the ancient Ottoman empire and colourful contemporary London it features authentic materials, silk wall coverings, antique mirrors, timber finishes and luxurious leather seating. For the ultimate in dining experience there's a Chef's table set apart from the main restaurant with an open view to the kitchen, a glorious beaten copper front and onyx topped counter, seating up to eight diners.

Along the clever ideas on offer, you might choose chilli caramel, harissa glazed chicken wings or whitebait, sumac and cumin crusted, with green chilli mayonnaise amongst the starters. Follow on with a main course dedicated to her grandfather who used to cook lamb Ottoman spiced cutlets, tahini and black truffle, za'atar for her father or maybe whole sea bass grilled with oregano za'atar and fennel tzatziki. Dishes are artfully displayed and beautifully presented with the use of seeds, shoots, leaves and flowers.

Tucked away from the main restaurant is the Quince Salon with its impressive open fire where you can be served afternoon tea or indulge in signature cocktails in the bar.
