The Met is the only restaurant in Venice to be awarded two Michelin stars, set in the Hotel Metropole a luxurious establishment with breathtaking views of the Lagoon and Santa Maria della Salute, near the Piazza San Marco. The hotel was formerly part of a monastery and the orphanage church La Pietą was where Vivaldi taught and composed between 1703-1740.
The resplendence of the hotel permeates through to its equally luxurious and elegant restaurant with swathes of damask, Venetian antiques, together with Asian artefacts and original Mariano Fortuny lamps. Tables are well-laid with flickering candles and flowers and the view from the terrace is magical.
Heading this award winning kitchen is chef Corrado Fasolato who not only studied under renowned chef Gualtiero Marchesi, but also worked alongside Ferran Adrią at El Bulli in Spain, as well as other starred restaurants in Paris, Germany and Switzerland. Fasolato's will pamper your palate with the most exquisite delicacies created from premium ingredients, with a cuisine that is both innovative and experimental. Expect culinary diversity as well as beautiful visual presentation of the dishes he sends out. There are a choice of menus to choose from, well-pitched service from the young team, as well as an exceptional wine list to complement the food.
