The Rose is set on the corner of Harwood Terrace in a quiet residential part of Fulham, not far from the busy New Kings Road. The pub has undergone a stylish refurbishment, but still feels quintessentially English with a pleasing mix of church pews and comfy chairs set against bare wood tables. The welcoming space is dotted with candles and lamps, with an inviting blazing open fire in winter. The secluded Rose Garden is a delightful place to linger over a drink in the summer months and it's heated with burning braziers, mushroom and wall heaters should it get a little chilly.
The seasonal menu changes daily to ensure the finest quality of the ingredients are reflected in their dishes. Typically amongst the starters you might choose pistachio and ham hock terrine, toast and homemade piccalilli or smoked mackerel, beetroot and horseradish pate, toast and gherkins. Main courses follow with char-grilled sirloin steak, stuffed field mushroom, slow roast tomato and fries or red Thai chicken curry and fragrant rice. When it comes to desserts you might see chocolate sundae or raspberry parfait with raspberry sorbet. There is an attractively priced wine list with plenty of offerings by the glass, and service is friendly and knowledgeable.
